The name Peekskill comes from a blend of Peek's surname and the Dutch translation of the word stream, kill or even kil.
THE HISTORY OF PEEKSKILL:
Peekskill, also known as The City of Peekskill, is a city in Westchester County, New York. Peekskill is set on a cove along the east side of the Hudson River, opposite Jones Point. The population was 23,583 during the 2010 registration.
The region was an early American modern place, essentially for iron furrow and stove items. The akers of Crayola items, The Binney & Smith Company, began as the Peekskill Chemical Company in 1864 at Annsville. Peekskill's assembling base worked well into the late twentieth century with the Fleischmann Company making variety of yeast products under the Standard Brands name.
