WHITE PLAINS

Access Transportation Svcs White Plains
With a population of close to a million residents, White Plains City is located at the heart of Westchester County, NY. In the 17th Century, during the settlement of the Dutch of Manhattan, traders of the Weckquaeskeck tribe used a farm land that they called the Quarropas. Early traders called it White Plains. In 1683, members of the Connecticut moved towards the West from their earlier settlement located in Rye, buying about 4,400 acres of land presumably from the Weckquaeskecks. A dispute with John Richbell of Mamaroneck was initiated, who claimed to have had a previous title of the land that was purchased from a different tribe. The matter was later settled by King Jorge 2, who granted a royal patent for White Plains. When the Colonial Government left the Westchester County in 1758, a non-incorporated peace of land was left north of Bronx, which was still part of the Rye Town until 1788, when White Plains was created.
